The word “ummah” is used within Islam to describe the global community of Muslims. This term is derived from the ancient Semitic word um or umm, meaning “MOTHER” and “thus hints at the ideal mother-child relationship.”

This fact of the word connoting MOTHERHOOD is betrayed by the abject mistreatment of females within this ideology. It would be best if everyone realized the root term as “MOTHER” and adjusted accordingly.

The mother-child relationship means NURTURING and LOVING, not sending your children off to jihadi camps to learn how to kill and die in the name of a god. MOTHER knows best here, so please pay attention to this mama.

Issues in Contemporary Islamic Thought By Taha Jabir Al ‘Alwani

For the Semitic/Canaanite/Ugarit sources of the word ‘um, or ummu in the Akkadian, which serves as an epithet of Mesopotamian goddess, see Dr. Aicha Rahmouni’s Divine Epithets in the Ugaritic Alphabetic Texts (tr. J.N. Ford. Leiden: E.J. Brill, 2008).

As we can see, not only does the word “ummah” refer to “mother,” but it is derived from an epithet used to describe GODDESSES. The divine feminine has been obliterated in order to produce a fallacious male-dominant, monotheistic paradigm.
