The Study Guide to Did Moses Exist?
This Study Guide consists of information relevant to the biblical story of Moses, the Exodus, Conquest of Canaan and the origin of the Hebrews, Israelites and Jews. In this regard, this ebook provides a number of texts from antiquity, including some in their original languages, discussed in my book “Did Moses Exist? The Myth of the Israelite Lawgiver.” These primary sources were too voluminous to attach as appendices thereto; hence, this present work. These various appendices thus supplement and clarify remarks in DME, which is why the present work is a “study guide.”
The pertinent page numbers from “Did Moses Exist?” (“DME”) for each chapter here are included under the section’s title or next to subsection headings, and the reader will wish to refer back to the original text for clarification.
Much additional material from “The Dionysus Connection” chapter in DME also is included here, demonstrating a significant body of literature on that subject which was left by the wayside even though it constitutes one of the most fascinating developments in the field of comparative religion and mythology.
Because he was another major figure who evidently contributed significantly to the Moses myth, I have included the entire Epic of Gilgamesh, making this ebook lengthy.
Some of the articles here, such as “Male Cult Prostitutes,” “Exodus Timeline,” “The Egyptian and Gnostic Seth” and “Horon and Mot,” are original to this publication.
