Phallephoria, the carrying of a phallus in procession in honor of Dionysus. For the first time after almost two thousand years, Phallephoria was celebrated in Athens.
I don’t know that it’s the first such procession in nearly 2,000 years, since Dionysus remained popular for centuries into the common era, but it’s great to witness the release of the Greek gods after almost that long being trapped under a Christian facade.
